Asphalt Paving

A long-lasting asphalt surface starts well before the first layer of pavement goes down.

At Sims Paving & Construction, we handle asphalt paving for commercial properties, roadways, subdivisions, public projects, and residential sites throughout Southeast Georgia. Because our work also includes site preparation and related construction, we can evaluate paving as part of the larger site, not as an isolated surface.
Whether the project calls for new pavement, repairs, or resurfacing, we can help determine what makes the most sense for the site. We provide new asphalt paving as well as patching, milling, sealcoating, and parking lot striping.

OUR SERVICES:

NEW & EXISTING SITES

Sims handles parking lots, access roads, subdivision streets, driveways, and other paving projects throughout Southeast Georgia. We also work with general contractors and developers to coordinate paving with the rest of the sitework.

PATCHING & REPAIRS

Not every pavement problem requires full replacement. When damage is limited to certain areas, patching can restore the affected section while preserving pavement that remains in good condition. Our team evaluates the extent and pattern of the damage to determine whether a localized repair is appropriate.

MILLING & RESURFACING

Milling removes part or all of an existing asphalt surface to prepare worn pavement for resurfacing. It can address surface irregularities, improve transitions to adjacent pavement, and prepare the area for new asphalt. The depth of milling depends on the pavement condition and planned finished elevation.

SEALCOATING & PARKING LOT STRIPING

Routine maintenance can help protect serviceable pavement and keep a property looking well maintained. Sims provides sealcoating for existing asphalt and can help determine whether pavement is ready for maintenance or needs repairs first. We also provide parking lot striping for new and existing surfaces.

PROVEN EXPERIENCE BENEATH THE PAVEMENT

One of the biggest factors in pavement performance is what happens underneath it.

Drainage, grading, and base condition can affect how the finished asphalt performs and how well it holds up over time.

Sims has worked across site preparation, grading, stone-base installation, drainage, concrete, hauling, and related construction work. That broader experience helps our team identify conditions that may affect the finished pavement and coordinate the work needed before paving begins. It also helps us recommend work that fits the site's actual condition rather than applying the same solution to every surface.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED NEW ASPHALT OR JUST REPAIRS?

Look at how widespread the damage is. Isolated potholes, failed spots, or smaller damaged areas may be good candidates for patching. Widespread roughness, rutting, cracking, or deterioration across a larger area can point toward resurfacing or more extensive work. An on-site evaluation can help determine which option fits the pavement's actual condition.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ASPHALT PATCHING AND RESURFACING?

Patching targets individual damaged areas, while resurfacing renews a larger continuous section of pavement. Patching is usually the more focused repair; resurfacing is better suited to surfaces where wear or deterioration extends across a broader area.

CAN YOU PAVE OVER EXISTING ASPHALT?

In some cases, yes. An asphalt overlay works best when the existing pavement can support the new surface, and the added elevation still works with curbs, entrances, drainage structures, and adjoining pavement. If those conditions aren't met, you may need milling or other preparation first.

HOW LONG DOES AN ASPHALT PAVING PROJECT TAKE?

The timeline depends on the area size, scope of work, site access, weather, and whether other construction must be completed before paving. A small repair can move much faster than a multi-phase parking lot, roadway, or subdivision project.

CAN WE HANDLE PARKING LOTS AND ROADWAY PAVING?

Yes. We work on parking lots, access roads, subdivision streets, driveways, and other paved areas throughout Southeast Georgia. Projects range from individual property improvements to larger roadway and site-development scopes.

DO WE OFFER SEALCOATING OR PARKING LOT STRIPING?

Yes. Sims provides sealcoating and parking lot striping for new and existing pavement. We can complete these services on their own when appropriate or coordinate them with a broader paving or maintenance project.
